Talking Photos

With the Internet there are many fun things you can do to improve your English skills.  You can practice your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. You can build your vocabulary and learn about grammar.  In our class blog, you will be doing fun and creative activities to practice your English.

On your first assignment, you will be creating a talking photo.  I discovered this cool website while surfing on the Internet:  fotobabble.com. It's a website where you can upload your photos with the feature of recording your voice. Hence, a talking photo. You can share these photos with your family and friends, post them on a blog and even on Facebook.

How to create a fotobabble:

To be able to do this, you must sign up for an account. It's very easy and it's free! First, go to fotobabble.com. Then click on SIGN UP. Enter a USERNAME, PASSWORD, EMAIL, CODE. Then click on sign up. If the username is already being used, you must change it.  You should be the owner of the photo being used.

Once you sign up, then you must SIGN IN. Enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD. Now you're ready to create your fotobabble. Click on CREATE A FOTOBABBLE. Upload a photo from your computer or Facebook account. Then click on CREATE. Under the photo you will see RECORD and PLAY. On the photo a box will appear which says ALLOW or DENY. Click on ALLOW. Then click RECORD. Say what you're going to say and then click STOP. To hear what was recorded click PLAY. If you want to make any changes you must click RECORD again and repeat what you want to say. Also include a title for your photo.

Here are a few examples I created:

TASKS:

1.  Listen to each fotobabble.  Then comment on each photo.  You may also ask questions.  Minimum 3 sentences per photo.  (Listening & Writing skills)

2.  Choose and describe one place or activity you would recommend a tourist or an islander to go to or do in Puerto Rico.  Use your own photo.  Upload on fotobabble, record your voice and post your  talking photo on the class blog  (use the code from embed your fotobabble).  Minimum 5 sentences.  (Writing & Speaking skills)
